Ok, so I wanted to see exactly how many things are going to be put into the game via backer rewards, and here is what I got;
Weapons: 61+34+29+15+1 (140)
Villagers: 34+29+15+1 (79)
Magnus: 29+15+1 (45 Lines) (135 Total)
Bosses: 15+1 (16)
Correct me if my maths is wrong, but wow that is a lot! Dunno how 15 extra story bosses will work, but still. Any thoughts on this?
Wow, this exploded whilst I slept. But it is good to hear about the Backer Island, and I also like the idea that the backer villagers give quests which give you those weapons. I will update the stats to their final amounts now.
Kind of like Ever Oasis style for talking to people and finding about villagers to recruit. But in our case, for finding weapons, crafting materials, and getting blueprints for crafting.
That sounds like an amazing idea. I will keep that in mind when I design my stuff in the future and add it for mine if it isn't done for all of the weapons.
Idea: lots of side quests to unlock weapon designs by speaking to the backer villager NPCs or by just playing the game and finding them in the market.
I hope they come up with a good solution. I don't want the weapons to be flooded with tons of stuff that wasn't planned, but I also don't want backer weapons to be unimportant or generic and rare.
Maybe the backer weapons will be mostly craftable if you know which resources you need?
They could have the weapons rotating in the marketplace for however long of an in-game time period. It adds variety.
That also means a total of 114 Magnus from backers, 38 base with 3 evolutions total per Magnus.
23 Legendary Tamer + 14 Boss Designer + 1 Producer means 38 backers that get celestial wings and they get 4 copies each which makes 152 celestial wings ever in the game.
Weapons: Well, usually in these type of games there are several weapons, so I think they can fit all the weapons in. Also, weapons don't need personalities or anything so it should work out fine.
Villagers: The backer island sounds totally amazing!!! Villagers galore!
Magnuses: Same as weapons pretty much.
Bosses: While 15 seems like a lot, I bet with all the new end game content they have planned they can manage to find places for them. If not, they could always just be scattered around the main game.
I'm so excited! I can't wait to play the game!
Also if anyone needs feedback or help with their concepts I would love to help!
I think Re: Legends will turn out great!
I recall the mention of a backer island for the NPCs. Extra bosses can be put into end game+. Do these numbers reflect how higher tiers get to design their item plus the items in the lower tier? So boss designers design weapons too and what not?
I thought too that the villagers would be the biggest problem, that's why I messaged the devs and asked for clarification how they want to do it.
This is their response:
So no worries with random NPCs or that they are rarely in the village. Also no worries that the village gets crowded by backer designed NPCs and not full-fledged story ones by the devs.
They are going to add a new village/kingdom for the backer villagers where they can be whatever they want and they are still relevant.
They will have a few pre-designed dialog lines and a small feature for marriage.
I'm trying to use a game dev view point for respond this
-Weapon - the most troublesome maybe is how to put those weapon's 'tier' and how its stats would be, you know like those weapon available at the beginning, and those weapon that become available after open another chapter, etc. Then again, iirc they said you can use it as vanity (skin) as well, so it might be not much a problem if your weapon put as low 'tier' since you can use it as skin for better weapon.
-Backers Villager - i believe devs will make them only serve as 'tourist' (or whatever they decided to call it), like rune factory 4 and cycle through certain days or weeks. They might given one or two spesific lines (with no voice), which is easier to be done this way. They never mention how your immortalized npc will become specifically after all, but it's still neat to find npc tributed to you included in the game.
-Magnus - well they put a lot effort on this, just believe they can manage to pull it off.
-Main Story Bosses - well 15 bosses sure are many , but it's possible to put them as 'invading boss' on each biome or put them on ruins and must be defeated before the 'actual main boss' to advance the story, i believe they able to put more creativity so it won't repetitive.
Hmm. Everybody had some interesting thoughts! I agree with Kuela, I think having random villagers would be the way to go. In fact, like animal crossing maybe the backers could just choose from, say, 5 different personalities to save code. And then the game just gives you one of each personality in your village. And I agree with Lordstrall, having the bosses be either only at certain times or just a little side area would be best. And yes Brandon, this is on top of whatever else they have (At least for magnus, weapons and villagers. We don't know about bosses yet.)
Don't forget 7K+ names in the end credit.
Weapons - A lot of the people might have the same idea about the weapon, so it might just be a reskin to personal liking. It might be challenging if the design include particle effect especially for magic.
Villagers - I'm a bit worried about this the most, that's a lot of villagers and they mentioned about they would be possible bachelors/backstretches. I'm worried story/dialogue wise. Will they just be randomized? Like in Animal Crossing series. There will be a few sets of villagers randomized for each playthrough and backers get to choose which to include. But I still worry about the NPCs in term of dialogue or story being too shallow and repetitive. There will be a lot of lines to write..
Magnus - Same with the villagers and weapons, but there won't really be a dialogues or personality. I think the devs can pull this off
Main story related bosses - Well, how 'main' would these bosses be will be the determining factor. I mean will it be a sidequest bosses or will backers' bosses replace the bosses the devs already made? That would save them a lot of time. I mean maybe the backers get to redesign already made bossess instead of totally creating new one on top already existing bossess.
Considering how they managed to stuff bosses in places I didn't think possible in Fantasy life, I doubt there will be much issue here. I think we are all also forgetting the night and day cycle. It seems plausible that certain bosses may require certain conditions to be met before appearing etc.
The final stretch goal with the changing final dungeon was hit, so maybe extra bosses can be cycled through that dungeon? Or just used in the end game? I'm sure they'll find a good way to implement them all!
they could put it in the end game content if they can't find a place for them all.
Nice mathing powers. This is all on top of whatever the developers are putting in the game, correct?
Well I am assuming the bosses can be added in each of the zones, maybe 2 a biodome?
